My daughter is 9 years old, 55 inches tall and weighs 91 pounds, so she is just barely overweight. For a couple of years, I’ve been buying her clothes a couple of sizes too big, other than jeans, which I have to buy plus sizes so they aren’t miles too long! Anyway, I just took her to The Children’s Place to shop for back-to-school clothes and I left there feeling sick (without betraying that to her, of course!) because the clothes just do NOT fit her properly. She needs a size 12 or 14 to fit around her belly, but the clothes just don’t look right. I don’t want her to get a complex about her weight, but I want her clothes to fit right. Where should I shop for plus size clothes? I know Target has plus size jeans, but where can I find other items that are made for larger girls? The baby doll styles I keep finding at trendy stores just do nothing for her body type, and dresses look like feed sacks by the time I get them large enough for her. Any cool store or website suggestions?
You should try Fashion Bug and Cato, they both have cute, trendy clothes for really good bargains.
Good luck, and yeah for you not letting her let this worry her!
You could try Limited Too, but it can be a little pricey for stuff she’ll just grow out of. I know they do have large sizes (16 and 18) and the styles are pretty cute. It might be worth looking there… good luck!

There is a store that is found in malls called Debb, and it has normal and plus sizes for teens. I know your daughter is younger, but maybe you can find something there.
Good luck!
