I want to start buying baby clothes, but I have no idea where to start?

This is my first baby, I’m due to give birth in early July. I really want to start buying baby clothes now, but all I can find are thick winter layers. Obviously in the height of summer these won’t be necessary, but I’m actually unsure of what things TO buy when summer things eventually come into store?

Also, what kind of things should my baby sleep in during the summer? What about booties, are they even needed, or should I just buy socks?

Interested to hear from mothers who’ve had their babies in the summer, and what they bought. Thank you :)

i had my baby july 15th 09. really the only things you need for the first 3 months or so is baby vests, babygrows and 2 or 3 outfits! i wish someone told me this before i had my daughter because i spent a small fortune on lots of cute outfits and they didnt even get worn lol! i got cute little summer dresses, dungarees (sp) and cardigans. my baby is almost 8 months now and still has never worn shoes, just socks or tights! if your in u.k then matalan and mothercare have already got great clothes ready for the summer! good luck and congrats!

oh and to sleep in just a baby vest and light blankets if its really hot, but i always put her in a vest and babygrow just in case she got too cool. babies need one extra layer than what an adult needs!

hope ive helped!

Is it ok to be buying baby clothes at 21 weeks pregnant?

I am exited about starting to buy baby clothes and starting m little boy’s nursery, but my mom thinks diferently she thinks its best to buy the baby stuff a couple weeks before my due date?,what do you think?

The way I see it, the more prepared you can be, the better. Some people think it’s bad luck to buy clothes for the baby before it’s born because you’ll jinx the pregnancy. When I found out I was pregnant I started browsing around for cribs, reading reviews on baby products, and started up an Amazon gift registry so I could use it like a shopping checklist for myself. I’ve spent lots of time researching safety standards, recalled items, and reading reviews. If you’re a big planner (like me) it takes LOTS of time to prepare!

As soon as we found out the sex we went straight to the store to buy a cute little girl outfit and went over paint samples we had already brought home months before for nursery colors. I wanted to get the nursery set up before I was too tired/huge to be able to help and I’m glad I did! Now at 30 weeks my back hurts, and I’ve managed to be sick for the past 3 weekends in a row. I haven’t been able to do much more than organize her closet! My husband and I decided to buy the big ticket items we didn’t feel comfortable putting on a registry (breast pump, crib, changing table, jogging stroller, etc) and the things we didn’t think would be "fun" for people to buy for a baby shower (crib mattress, changing pad, diaper pail, etc).

If you’re excited to buy some clothes for your little one then go for it! Babies go through TONS of clothes, so even if you buy several outfits he’ll still need more. Plus, it’s so fun to be able to finally browse the baby section for your OWN baby! Congratulations on your little one, and happy shopping!

buying baby clothes.?

please advise me as to how many 0-3 months clothes i should have. and how many 3-6 months

how many outfits for each
how many onsies for each
how many sleepers

i have been yard saleing and it hard for me not to buy the stuff cuz it is so cute and pretty cheap, so realistically what do you reccomend? my baby is due in 2 weeks, so i am starting to panic and think i dont have enough. i am having dreams about not having clothes that fit her. amongst other crazy dreams that make me feel unprepareed–thats a different question though.

I had way too many clothes for each stage. I almost wish I had less so she could have gotten more use out each outfit. I would say about 10-15 outfits for each stage, probably about 2-3 of those being sleepers. Lots of onsies and socks are good. Don’t buy too much in newborn size, becuase those only fit for about 2 weeks.
