I’m thinking I may try and make a quilt out of some old t-shirts I have first, so I can mess up on that one and it won’t be that big of a deal, that way I can practice before I get started on the important one

I have made plenty of baby clothes quilts, and for me the crazy pattern is the easiest because it is the most forgiving. You just make it bigger than what you need, and trim the edges to be symmetrical.

Bear in mind that a baby clothes quilt will not lie as flat as a traditional quilt, and it will weigh a lot more.

Make a few outfits from purchased patterns just to learn how your machine works. You don’t need the stress!

Use quilters rulers, a cutting mat and rotary cutter to cut rectangles and triangles out of the baby’s clothes. First cut the front where you will have a design or motif, then get as many pieces as you can out of the rest of the garment. Don’t forget to open up the sleeves and use that material too. Save all collars, trims, buttons and bows.

Iron interfacing to the back of all your pieces. This will neutralize the stretch and thicken the thinner ones.

Start sewing them together in strips, then sew the strips together into big squares, then sew the squares together. topstitch all seams. It’s time consuming and uses a lot of thread but the quilt will be too lumpy if you don’t.

If you are very creative and this isn’t your first project, you will notice ways to use odd pieces like collars or big appliques.

When you have the top finished, layer it with your batting and backing and roll both ends tightly toward the center like a scroll. Tie the quilt at 4 inch intervals with embroidery thread. Finish with a binding all around.

*3 Months Later*

It was my baby shower and Aunt Alice and Rosalie were making it the best ever.All the guys including Jake went hunting for their own type of ‘party’.My mother was blowing up balloons and grandma was making some food for the guests.The living room was pink,blue and yellow with balloons,streamers,or gifts.My stomach is pretty huge now.Im sitting on the couch waiting for our guests to arrive.We invited Emily,Claire,Kim,Leah…sadly,Sue and Renee.Im happy that my other grandma could make it.She barely comes and visits.Alice was making sure everything was perfect,while Rosalie was looking at herself in the mirror.I sighed.The doorbell rang and I tried to get up.My mother rushed over to help me up.Rosalie went to go get the door instead so I sat back down.It was Emily and Kim who came,then everyone else showed up a few minutes later.There were only like 10 people here and there are 30 gifts.I guess the guys bought stuff too.

“Time for the gifts!!!” Alice said while dancing around.

I opened all my gifts but one.I saved my moms for last.So far I got a crib,toys,baby clothes,changing table,baby carrier,stroller,diaper bag,bottles and lots more.I took the gift from my mom and opened it.It was a beautiful quilt with all these patterns on it.I regonized the patterns from somewhere I just dont know where.

“Mom I love it!!!! These patterns though,they remind me of something.” I said
“Yeah they were your old clothing and blanket patterns.I made it just for you.” she said
“Mom.” I hugged her tightly.Then the baby kicked again.
“Ouch.” I said in pain
“Baby kicking again?” Rosalie asked.
“Yeah.” I said

The rest of the gang left an hour ago.We played games and everything.Then the guys came home.I was lying on the bed again.Emmett and Jasper were talking about genders.There probally betting Im guessing.Jacob was looking for a way to get to me without breaking any gifts.He finally got over to me though.Then I started to cough really badly.

“Nessie you alright?” Jake asked.I coughed even more.
“Jake whats wrong with Nessie?” My father asked
“I dont know.She just started coughing and she wont stop.” Jake said

Carlisle came downstairs with a machiene so it will help me breath.He said it was because of my pregnancy going on.Jacob was sitting on the bed next to me telling me about the big game coming up in 2 weeks and looking at all the baby stuff we got.We dont know the gender yet.We want it to be a surprise.Jacob stopped talking and picked something up.

“Whats this?” he asked me
“Breast pump.” I said
“Why in the world would Leah buy this.” He put it on his chest.I laughed
“I dont know and its not for you silly.” I said still laughing.
