My baby is only 7 months old but I already have bought TONS of clothes for her all the way up to 4T. By tons I mean over 200 (maybe more) items that she can’t even wear yet. I try to get items that won’t really go out of style. It just hit me today that I don’t have anymore space in her closet to put all these clothes. I was actually kinda shocked at how much clothing I had bought. It’s not causing us to have any money problems or anything. But I can’t seem to stop buying baby/toddler stuff. Is this a real problem for other people?
I’m in the same boat… sort of. My daughter is 8 months old and I have bought tons of clothes. I have bags of clothing up till 2 years (well, only one bag of 2T, but all the sizes before that fill up their own bags). Whenever my husband and I go shopping, he tries to pull me away from the baby clothing. Hehe.
Can someone be addicted to buying baby clothing?

I was like that with my 1st… Now that I’m on my 4th… this kid is gonna have nothing but hand-me-downs.
You’ll get over it, trust me!!

yes – i don’t buy nearly as much as you but can see how it can become a problem. everything is just so dang gone cute! but really as you know babies grow out of clothes in no time and i said forget after my son would only wear something once or twice and then he was too big for it.

Shopping for anything can be a compulsion. My neice is pregnant and her mother (my sister) has been buying tons of baby clothes. If it is not hurting you financially it’s harmless. You can always have a garage sale soem time to make room for more!

I dont believe that you can be addicted to buying baby clothing but to keep yourself busy or keep your mind off your husband while he’s deployed to Iraq or elsewhere it can be a form of destress. I’m in the Navy and my wife did the same while I was deployed in Bahrain.

Watching a baby grow is very exciting, take note that they grow so fast in a way that buying clothes too much of too soon might as well end up to waste since they wont be able to use all of them. Check http://babyschwag.net/ and spend on long term items such as books or furnitures which will serve them longer rather than clothes.
