  6. Since you are new …
Since you are new to crochet you are still developing your own unique tension. It take some practice to make consistent stitches. Sometimes the edges can be tricky. If you crochet in the wrong stitch, your edges may wind up uneven. If your beginning chain is real loose your edges may be uneven. Make sure you count and get your stitches in the correct stitch.

  7. As a crochet virgin …
As a crochet virgin, I was nervous about attempting any pattern outside of a double crochet. I must say, I LOVE it! Without your instructions and video I would be lost. I am having trouble with the ends – as usual for a newbie…any advice for those of use who suffer from uneven edges?

  12. Hmm? I made a video …
Hmm? I made a video response, but it seems to have disappeared. Maybe when I edited it, it vanished. Anyway, I added that this stitch is also known as the “teardrop stitch”, and the response is the double crochet chain with chain one & skip one stitch that can be used as an alternative to the long foundation chain. But beginners, please follow Teresa’s instructions! They are superb!

  14. When you start your …
When you start your chain, you have already looped a loop on your hook. That is what you are seeing in the symbol image. Each person may interpret where to put the stitches differently on the beginning chain of the foundation chain. The multiple of 4 is what it takes for each pattern stitch so that is the important part of the multiple. If you wind up with 2 extra chains it will not be necessary to to rip it up. I just sew the extra chains right in between the stitches.

  15. Hi! I have …
Hi! I have question. This will be my first crochet project, (I’m beginner!) and I could never figure out one thing.

Multiply of 4, and how many extra stitches should I make first?

I was trying 31 stitches as video said, but never finished by 3rd DC. I also checked the picture from your website, was 29 stitches. So would be + 5 stitches? I’m little confuse now, please help!

By the way, this is really great video! Thanks for posting!!

  24. Since the pattern …
Since the pattern segments are staggered, there will be 2 rows of chain 3’s, 2 rows of chain 4’s. I do have a symbol chart and written instructions posted on my crochet blog that may be helpful. You are welcome to print out the instructions and symbol chart for your class.

  25. Hi, I first want to …
Hi, I first want to say that this is such a pretty pattern, I’m sitting here doing it with you, but my question is~ when you started the 3rd row {second color}, you did 4 chain, and starting the 5th row {3rd color}, you chained 3. Do you continue to do only 3 chains for every new colored row, or do you have to alternate chain 3 and chain 4 in starting a new colored row?
I’m a crochet teacher, and I’ll definitly teach my students this, I’m crocheting 44 yrs, I also hold my work like you! :)
